Stuart Broadbent is Obsolescence Director at Alstom, responsible for all aspects of obsolescence management in Alstom, and addressing the challenge of reconciling the long life-cycle of railway equipment with the short development cycles of commercial and industrial equipment and components.

The presentation will describe the principles of obsolescence management, how obsolescence affects long life cycle industries such as rail, and the particular challenges of managing obsolescence with latest generation digital signalling systems such as CBTC and ETCS.
