With the kind support of Atkins (member of the SNC-Lavalin Group), the IRSE Younger Members are pleased to invite you to an IRSE Exam Preparation Workshop for Modules 1 & 7. This event is offered free of charge.
Unlike other modules that require some specialist knowledge of technical concepts, Module 1 and 7 are centred around demonstrating one’s knowledge of signalling as a ‘system’. With delivery being the prime focus in the industry, we tend to adopt silo working, with time spent on doing specialist jobs associated with Interlocking Data, Location Case Design, Install or Test etc.
With advancement in technology, it is important to build a wider range of skills and competencies which helps improve the industry’s capability and naturally fosters innovation and development.
So, this year, we bring to you a signalling system based workshop with exciting interactive talks aimed at motivating the participants to think outside the (signal) “box”. The workshop will also emphasise on the importance of engineering safety and the role it plays in the way the signalling system is developed.
Success in the exam depends both on having the requisite underpinning knowledge and having the skill to interpret questions and construct pertinent answers within the time available; these sessions will also focus on developing these skills.
It is aimed equally at assisting those who did not pass last year to gain an understanding of why their answers were judged insufficient and to encourage those just starting their study wishing to maximise their chances of passing on the first occasion.
(full details overleaf) is built up of combined sessions, where all participants are in one room, and split sessions where participants can choose between a session focussed on Module 1 or Module 7. The final session of the day gives participants the opportunity to have a go at a question under exam conditions; or, for those who are not planning on taking the exam this year, a session on how to answer IRSE exam questions.
