Return to Rail... the challenge
28 Jun 2021 9:00 AM - 02 Jul 2021 5:00 PM
Section:
Rail infrastructure has a unique role to play to contribute in driving post-Covid recovery, providing passenger-focused and sustainable solutions for rail that will last long into the future. The Institution of Railway Signal Engineers and Siemens Mobility are bringing together voices across the industry to consider how best to work together to use the full range of railway signalling and control solutions, communications and related engineering disciplines to deliver those solutions. We will look at the capabilities of today’s railway control systems and potential enhancements that technology can bring, and explore how innovation can bring new levels of service performance, predictable service and operational flexibility to attract passengers back to the railway. Taking an international view, our presenters will consider how railway data can be turned into information to provide optimum matching of service levels to demand, consider the future of ticketing and deliver enhanced provision of timely, accurate information to passengers and staff. We will also discuss the significant opportunity to use changed demand patterns to unlock freight train paths and to use energy optimally across the network to build on rail’s existing strong decarbonisation credentials. We hope very much you will be able to join us for the event and be part of the revolution in rail that can be a lasting positive legacy of a traumatic time.
