Presidential lecture No.2: 'Improving railway operations with data-driven technology'
18 Aug 2021 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Section: Presidential Programme Lecture (events@irse.org)
Railways are becoming more and more popular, among other things because of their low carbon footprint. Therefore they need to deliver a higher train density, whilst using existing infrastructure and keeping costs low. Most importantly, this must be accomplished with high levels of safety, reliability and punctuality.
Big data could be a key to future success. Existing railway infrastructure can be made "intelligent" with appropriate solutions and powerful, flexible interfaces.

You are invited to join us for the second of Ian Bridges’ Presidential Programme lectures on the theme “the age of the intelligent railway”. Martin Rosenberger (Frauscher) will be discussing the "Improving railway operations with data- driven technology".

The relevant trackside technology, for example inductive wheel sensors and axle counters, is often already installed. This gives operators and system integrators an important opportunity to generate new information by analysing and assessing comprehensive data in a cost-efficient way. "Making better use of existing data and applying it for new services will contribute to successfully keeping pace with digitation of the rail industry." Members and non-members are welcome to join us.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, this will be held as a virtual event only.
