Joint IRSE York section and IET North East section technical meeting - Dorman LED signal readability and the importance of proper alignment
13 Oct 2022 5:15 PM - 7:00 PM
Section: Organised by the IRSE York section (https://www.irse.org/Get-Involved/Near-You/UK/York) and IET North East section

Join the IRSE York section and IET North East section for a joint technical paper on Thursday 13 October 2022

During the re-signalling works at London Bridge between 2013 and 2017 numerous allegations were made by drivers of poorly lit signals and phantom aspects. An investigation, led by Peter Williams (Engineering Expert, Network Rail Technical Authority), discovered that circa 40% had not been aligned adequately, or compliantly.

Peter then conducted a national audit and found that this proportion of inadequately aligned signals was common across almost all of the most recent major projects.

So, what was wrong? Standards? Training? The product itself?

Working with Unipart Dorman and Siemens, a host of issues were uncovered, all now largely resolved or being managed.

Come and listen to Peter Williams FIRSE (Engineering Expert, Network Rail Technical Authority), Andy Stringer FIRSE (Siemens Mobility) and Richard Flanagan (Sales Director, Unipart Dorman) tell us their account of how preconceptions were challenged, what needed to be done, where the highest risk lies and what they each did to resolve it.

This meeting is being held in person at room 4.1 George Stephenson House, York and via Zoom (meeting ID 84417650495). All are welcome to join the IRSE and IET local sections for this event.
