13.00: Human Factors paper presented by John Barnett.

After we have completed the formal business of the section at our AGM, John will draw on his extensive experience of both railway signalling and aeronautical technology to provide insights into the performance of human beings in complex man/machine interfaces.

Railways Group of Engineers Ireland

17.30: The Regulatory Environment will be explored by Gerald Beesley, Commissioner for Rail Regulation in Ireland.

Gerald gained extensive experience as a railway engineer, both in Ireland and overseas, before taking up the position of Railway Safety Commissioner (latterly the CRR).  He will enlighten the signal engineering community on the implications of current and anticipated legislation in the rapidly changing area of European Railway regulation.

Fri/Sat  16/17th June, in Derry, commencing at 17.00

​Technical, and Social, Visit to Derry area and Coleraine

NIR Translink have offered to host a technical weekend visit to the recently resignalled area of Derry/Portrush and other venues of interest in the north west. There will be a social element and partners are encouraged to attend.

A presentatiion by Dublin City Council to explain the advances made by Dublin in the "Smart Cities" project.
