48th Annual Dinner

The 48th Annual Institution Dinner, kindly sponsored this year by Siemens, will be held following the Annual General Meeting on Friday 20th April 2012 and the Institution’s Guest of Honour this year will be Lord Alec Broers FREng FRS,
Chairman, All Party Parliamentary Engineering Group.

 

Lord Broers has had a long and distinguished career in both industry and academia.  He took his doctorate at the University of Cambridge and after nearly 20 years in industry returned to Cambridge as Professor of Electrical Engineering, subsequently becoming Master of Churchill College and then Vice Chancellor of the University until 2003.  Among many appointments, he is currently chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Engineering Group which is an innovative parliamentary group enabling contact and involvement from the highest levels of government with the engineering profession.  He is a noted pioneer of nanotechnology.

 

In order to offer 5 Star service at table, The Savoy has decided that they will only use tables seating 10 people in the future, in order to give enough room for the waiters to move freely.  Whilst applauding their wish for us all to enjoy top class service, it does mean that the capacity of the room is now restricted to a maximum of 380.  This is a total we have exceeded on a number of occasions, so please book early to avoid disappointment. Tickets will be despatched in March giving hosts the opportunity to confirm invitations to their guests.  Details of the menu and an order form for pre-ordering wine and a hosted bar will be sent directly from The Savoy a few weeks before the event.
