It only seems like yesterday that the Global System for Mobile Communications – Railway (GSM-R) was developed and the roll out of this 2nd Generation (2G) radio network commenced. However work has been going on for many years now on its successor i.e. the Future Railway Mobile Communications System (FRMCS).
Pierre Tane of Kapsch CarrierComm (the provider of Network Rail’s GSM-R Core and Radio Access Network) has agreed to come all the way over from France to provide an update on the status of the work and plans to specify and develop the FRMCS system leading to the ultimate migration from GSM-R to FRMCS. This should be a very educational and informative talk from a highly regarded expert in the field, so if you are interested in what the next generation railway radio system will look like, you need to secure your seat quickly.
