ASPECT 2008 is an international conference organised by the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers: the Worlds leading professional body for railway signalling, communications and systems such as train control engineering. The ASPECT conferences have met with great success in past years and are thoroughly enjoyed by delegates for the quality of presentations and extensive networking opportunities. The ASPECT series of conferences focus on the breadth of disciplines related to the Institutions area of interest but especially Automation, Signalling, Performance, Equipment, Control and Telecommunications in the railway environment. ASPECT provides details of current and future developments for railway professionals throughout the World and the opportunity to discuss issues within the industry and exchange ideas with colleagues from other suppliers and railway administrations.

Following on from the success of previous ASPECT conferences, the IRSE is pleased to announce the Call for Papers. For 2008 there will be no core theme. However, some suggestions of concepts for papers are listed in the Call for Papers PDF file downloadable from the link (top right). We invite you to shape the conference with your ideas.

The initial programme is for an Introduction Day to be held on the 24th September 2008, for those with less experience within the railway signalling, telecommiunications or system disciplines.

On the evening of the 24th there will be an informal social event for all attendees of the conference. It is planned to be held in Covent Garden.

The 25th and 26th of September 2008 will be the main days of the conference. A wide and varied selection of papers covering a broad range of subjects have been selected with a highly noteable keynote speaker followed by a novel paper.

On the 25th the formal social event will be held at Lords Cricket Ground. Included is access to the museum (which includes the Ashes trophy) and potential for a tour of the grounds.

Queen Elizabeth II Covention Centre, Westminster, London is again the venue. Information such as local hotels, facilities and travel to and from Westminster will be provided in the IRSE News and via the website later in the year.
