More information
There are no separate membership requirements for Younger Members. If you are a member of the Institution and are still in your formative years of professional development, then contact us if you would like to receive e-mail updates on Younger Members events or would like to become involved in organising YM activity.
The principle objective of the Younger Members (YM) is to contribute to and improve the benefits that the IRSE provides for its younger members. This is achieved by providing a focus within the Institution for the co-ordination of YM events and communications.
The YM arrange several events in the UK every year. These usually include a seminar, an IRSE examination review meeting and meetings with YM groups from other institutions. Feedback is sought to enable the YM to plan events for the future to help meet the professional development needs of younger members.
The YM also strive to raise awareness of the benefits that the IRSE offers to younger members and to understand the issues and topics relevant to younger members, so they may be raised and addressed through events and communications.
The YM support the initiatives of the IRSE Council, Committees and Sections for younger members. The YM Committee aims to encourage the Institution’s other Committees and Sections to ensure that the needs of their local younger members are met through appropriate representation within their events and organisations.
The YM Forum was established in 2007 as a web-based forum to develop links with younger members outside the UK. It is currently working on the preparation of a paper on automatic train operation. Enquiries here.
