Location
IRSE members are able to use the IET library facilities at Savoy Place in London. The IRSE library joined with the former IEE library some years ago and in March 2006, the IEE merged with IIE to form the IET. The library covers all aspects of electrical and electronics engineering, including telecommunications, signalling and control engineering. Over 3,000 books are added to stock annually and the Library currently subscribes to over 1,100 periodical titles. Much of the stock is not on the open shelves, but can be collected by the Library staff within a few minutes.
Opening hours
The library is open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Requests can be made by telephone, post or visit. The nearest Underground Station is Embankment on the Northern, Bakerloo, District and Circle Lines.
Search facility
Information on all books and periodicals can be searched using the computerised catalogue, which can be accessed via the IET website.
Borrowing rights
UK members may borrow a maximum of 10 books at a time, for up to 4 weeks. Members based in continental Europe may borrow a maximum of 3 books, for up to 4 weeks. The loan period may be extended if the book is not required by another reader.
Postal service
A postal service is available for those unable to visit. You will need to quote your IRSE membership number, which will be subject to verification, in order to take advantage of the book loan service.
