The Institution of Railway Signal Engineers, known more usually as the IRSE, is an international organisation, active throughout the world. It is the professional institution for all those engaged in, or interested in, railway signalling and telecommunications and allied disciplines.

New Web Site
The "brand refreshed" web site was launched on 29 June 2009. The functionality is similar to that of the old site, but there will soon be a new "online" section for the ordering of publications and other items, booking for events and facilities for members to update their contact details. This feature is in the final stage of testing. If you have any comments on the web site, please forward them to hq@irse.org.

Inauguration of New President
The inauguration of Frans Heijnen as the President of the Institution took place in London on Friday 24th April 2009.

Younger Members Event
The YM has organised two further events this year intended to assist students.

One, covering Module 5, takes place at the GM Rail Services training facility at Rugby on Saturday 25 July 2009.

The other, covering Modules 2 & 3, takes place at the Signet Solutions training centre at Derby on 15 & 16 August 2009.
